Having an issue with the grid settings in Kicad 7 pcb editor. No matter what I change the grid properties to, the remain at 2.54 mm (0.1″) Any idea what’s going on?
I’m trying to create a replacement pcb for an old Teac R2R preamp board that is no longer available, and need to duplicate the original dimensions. As part of that I also need to create an 18 contact 3.96mm spacing card edge connector, but that’s another issue….
That’s kind of strange, never faced issue similar to this. It could be a bug so try to check if you face similar issue on different projects.
But just to clarify, if you are using the Grid settings :
You have to manually select the Grid under the top tool bar well.
For the 18 contact edge connector, create a custom footprint using array tool: Youtube Video
Start with creating a PAD of required dimension -> select and right click on the PAD -> Create from Selection -> Create array
And then use the footprint within the PCB editor.

Great info, thanks for the quick reply! I suspect it was a bug in 7.0.2 – upgraded to 7.0.5 and that seems to have fixed it.
I’ll play with the array function. KiCad users can get a free license to Footprint Expert Pro from PCB Libraries. I used their wizard to create an edge connector pattern as a custom footprint object and that seems to have worked. I drew the board outline in PCB editor then placed the connector footprint, and everything seems to fit like it should…
Glad it things worked out. I haven’t personally used “Footprint Expert Pro” but thanks for the suggestion!
